Something wrong? Let us know.

Scales weigh trucks all day. Only some get written up for a full inspection, and those are what we counted: 27,937 dump truck inspections at scales in 12 months.
The US 380 scale at Decatur, TX ran 508 of them, more than any other. That's 408 different trucks, and a third of everything inspected there.

Eight of the 15 busiest are in Texas. Together they ran 62% of the top 15's inspections.

How we counted
- Scales: fixed-site inspections, by the location the officer wrote down. Both directions of a scale combined.
- Inspections: full safety inspections written up and reported to FMCSA. Trucks weighed and sent on aren't in the file.
- Out of service: the inspection ended with an out-of-service order.
- Map: dots at the scale's town, not the exact site.
- Haulers: dump truck haulers, by the cargo they report to FMCSA.
